Mission Club
Instilling the value of service in the Mission Club members is a vital part of this organization, as the students learn to reach out and help those who are less fortunate in the world in imitation of Jesus.
- open to all 3rd through 8th graders
- meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 8:00 am in the back of Jerome Hall
The purpose of the Mission Club:
- by praying for the less fortunate
- collecting money
- sponsoring various projects to help them
Mission money is collected in each homeroom throughout the year in a mission pouch:
- each year we choose a mission country to support
- students learn about the mission country and the needs of the people there
- the money is sent to Holy Childhood Association, the sponsoring agency
- various fundraisers such as bake sales are held to benefit the missions
- a Mission Fair is held, and all proceeds go to support our mission country
- sponsors food drives to help the poor in our own community
- organizations such as Second Harvest and the Rebuild Center are the recipients of the food collected
- members pack all of the food for distribution
- a service project is selected at Christmas time and all members participate
Field trips:
- are occasionally scheduled to increase the members’ awareness of some of the agencies in our area which support the poor and needy
